52.6 billion dollars in South Korea’s exports in February

The value of exports amounted to 52.6 billion dollars last month, high from 52.1 billion dollars registered in February last year, according to the data gathered by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, while imports rose 0.2% on an annual basis to 48.3 billion dollars, which resulted in a trade surplus of $ 4.3 billion.
South Korea’s exports returned to growth just one month after its decline in January due to the lack of working days against the background of the new lunar holiday extended.
The ministry said that the increase in exports came thanks to the strong performance in the auto and computers sectors, including hard -powered tablets; Car exports jumped by 17.8% year on an annual basis to $ 6.1 billion in February, ending their 3 -month decrease since last November, and in particular, hybrid auto exports increased by 74.3% on an annual basis to $ 1.3 billion.
Computers exports increased by 28.5% to 800 million dollars, recording an increase for the fourteenth month in a row, but the chips exports fell by 3% to 9.6 billion dollars during the same period due to the sharp decrease in memory chips.
According to the destination, exports to China fell in February by 1.4% on an annual basis to 9.5 billion dollars due to the slowdown in chips, while exports to the United States increased by 1% to 9.9 billion dollars, and exports to the Middle East increased by 19.6% to $ 1.7 billion.
