المملكة: “Your response is limited.” The environment addresses traders on customs exemptions

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture expressed its dissatisfaction with the limited response shown by the companies and commercial institutions operating in the agricultural sector with the customs exemption initiative for agricultural production inputs, which was recently launched in implementation of the Cabinet Resolution.
This initiative aims to support the national agricultural sector and enhance its competitiveness by alleviating financial burdens on investors.

Marketing services

The initiative, which is approved by the state, includes customs duties on a set of agricultural production inputs, including all items related to animal, plant and fish production, in addition to marketing services, according to the customs tariff items for the targeted varieties.
The decision of the Council of Ministers clearly stipulated, specifically in the second item, paragraph B, the need for imported institutions and companies to obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture before the goods arrive in the customs department, in order to ensure the organization of the process and facilitate procedures.

Great advantages

Despite the great advantages of this initiative, which would contribute to reducing the costs of agricultural production and improving the profitability of companies, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has noticed a lack of response by employees of the commercial sector.
Therefore, the Ministry emphasizes the importance of this initiative and calls on all interested and workers in the agricultural sector to benefit from this customs exemption.
The Ministry affirmed, in order to overcome any obstacles and facilitate the procedures, its full readiness to respond to any inquiries or questions by merchants and those interested, through the Ministry of Agricultural Support Department.
