Minister of Economy: The UAE has succeeded in consolidating its position as a global destination for tourism and travel

Abu Dhabi, April 28 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, affirmed that the UAE, thanks to the directives of its rational leadership, continues to consolidate its position as a leading global tourist destination, through the development of the tourism sector according to the best global practices, and the launch of ambitious national projects and initiatives that support the growth of the national economy and diversify its sources, and enhance the state’s attractiveness to investments in the hospitality sectors Air and travel.
His Excellency pointed out that the Emirati tourism sector continued to achieve exceptional results during the year 2024, as the revenues of hotel establishments increased to about 45 billion dirhams, achieving 3% growth compared to 2023, while the hotel occupancy rate reached 78%, which is among the highest regionally and globally.
The state also witnessed the inauguration of 16 new hotels during the past year, bringing the total number of hotels to 1251 hotels, and the number of hotel rooms increased by 3% over the previous year.
The number of guests of hotel establishments reached about 30.8 million inmates, a growth of 9.5% compared to 2023, which represents 77% of the target of the “National Tourism Strategy 2031” for the number of guests seven years before the specified date.
His Excellency the Minister of Economy added, “These positive indicators confirm the success of the state’s vision in enhancing the competitiveness of the UAE tourism product, and supports the achievement of the target of the national tourism strategy 2031, which aims to increase the contribution of the tourism sector in the gross domestic product to 450 billion dirhams, and attract 40 million hotel guests by the next decade and with the continued growth of the sector at this pace, we are confident in achieving these ambitious goals at a time Standard. ”
His Excellency explained that the Arab Travel Market Exhibition, and through its 32th sessions, represented a strategic platform to enhance fruitful partnerships between markets and tourist destinations in the region and the world, and exchange experiences on best practices and sustainable tourism policies, which contributes to continuing the development of the national tourism sector, and providing distinguished tourism experiences that reflect the cultural and natural diversity that the UAE abounds.
