Save the life of a Yemeni pilgrim, forty heart and brain stroke in King Abdullah Medical City

In a rare medical achievement, a multidisciplinary medical team in King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Al -Mukarramah Health Gathering, succeeded in saving the life of a Yemeni pilgrim in the fourth decade of life suffered a severe heart attack with complex blockages in the arteries of the heart and neck, which constituted a great challenge due to the seriousness of the situation and the possibility of additional brain or heart attacks during any treatment intervention in a rare and highly dangerous process. Healthy that the patient was accepted as an urgent condition through the “Illiteral” system, and after conducting the tests and cardiac catheters, it was found that there are blockages in several arteries of the heart in addition to severe narrowers in the arteries of the neck that cannot be treated with the usual catheter technology, which required an accurate surgical intervention to ensure the success of the operation without complications that threaten the patient’s life.

He added, after discussing the case in an expanded medical meeting that included a group of cardiac catheterization consultants, cardiovascular surgery, it was decided to perform a double surgery in two phases, as the vascular surgery team first restored the arteries of the neck, followed by a surgical intervention from the cardiac surgery team to perform vascular connections for four heart arteries.

The health assembly indicated that thanks to the skill of the medical team and the accuracy of high anesthesia, the process that took 8 hours succeeded, so that the patient leaves the medical city in good health after receiving advanced care in the intensive care and the hypnosis department until he recovered.

It is worth noting, this process is in terms of complexity and multiple stages of rare cases at the level of the medical city, as it is conducted for the second time only in 13 years, which reflects the advanced medical level that characterizes the city thanks to the unlimited support from the rational leadership, and the constant keenness to provide the latest medical technologies according to the highest international standards.
