A Canadian influencer took her life with medical assistance, after documenting her suffering with early Alzheimer’s disease in a video clip, saying that she could no longer bear to live in a body that caused her pain and insecurity.

Rebecca Luna, 49, a single mother of two from British Columbia, died last Saturday “peacefully and next to her loved ones,” her eldest daughter, Maya, revealed on a fundraising page.

Luna, who had faced serious difficulties since her childhood, used the “Medical Assisted Dying” (MAID) law passed by Canada in 2016, which allows people with incurable diseases to end their lives with the assistance of doctors.

Last week, she revealed in a video clip on the TikTok application that she moved up the date of her death from August to last Saturday, due to her rapidly deteriorating health condition.

She said in her last clip to her followers: “Two weeks ago, the decision was not up to me, but now I made the decision myself. It is a difficult decision, because I live in a body in which I do not feel comfortable, safe, or good. The feeling is terrible, and the idea of ​​waiting two additional weeks seemed to me more than I could bear.”

She revealed that she would spend her final days with her family and friends, expressing her regret for what she had reached: “This is not what I wanted. I would never have chosen this disease for myself. It took a lot from me, except for my beautiful appearance,” as a joke.

Luna spoke frankly about her desire to “rest and put an end to the suffering,” adding: “I do not want to die before fifty, but I have lived a really good life. I have lived a life full of trauma, and I have suffered enough in this world.
