Visitor Doctors’ Program has supported 3277 patients since its launch
Abu Dhabi, March 7/ WAM/ The Health Department – Abu Dhabi confirmed that 3277 patients have benefited from the program of visiting doctors from its launch in 2021 to December 2024, as patients allowed the consultation of a group of international doctors specializing in rare and complex diseases.
The program aims to improve health care levels, by cooperating with the best international health institutions, and attracting the most prominent doctors to it, which contributes to providing innovative and high -quality health care to those in need in Abu Dhabi.
Since the start of the program, Abu Dhabi has received 37 visiting doctors who performed 372 surgeries until December 2024, and visiting doctors also cooperated with local medical personnel in exchanging experiences and medical education, and approved training workshops were organized from the Health Department – Abu Dhabi.
In November 2024, the emirate made a major achievement by performing the first selective operation of the dorsal root carried out by visiting doctors from the United States of America.
This achievement is in line with the commitment of the Health Department – Abu Dhabi to attract global medical expertise and apply best practices in the health sector.
His Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al -Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Health Department – Abu Dhabi, said that the department is committed to international health care for the emirate’s residents and visitors.
She added that the visiting doctors’ program played an important role in improving the health care experience for patients, especially those who suffer from rare and complex diseases, which contributes to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading health care destination globally.
She pointed out that during the year 2024, Abu Dhabi received a group of medical specialties, most notably blood diseases in children, plastic surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology, and the program also added four new specialties that include a retina tumor, a selective a few dorsal root, sugary foot, and a complex care clinic.
The program succeeded in providing medical and therapeutic consultations, in addition to enhancing knowledge exchange, and improving after surgery, which contributes to improving the quality of health care in the emirate, and the public can also reserve dates with visiting doctors through the relevant facilities.
