Officials: "Sharjah libraries" One of the most important pillars of the cultural renaissance in the emirate

Sharjah, March 12 / WAM / A number of heads and managers of cultural and heritage institutions confirmed that Sharjah libraries represent one of the most important pillars of the cultural and knowledge renaissance that distinguished the emirate for decades; The libraries formed the nucleus of a scientific and civilizational renaissance that carried the banner of Arab culture to the world and contributed to the consolidation of literature and knowledge as an integral part of the fabric of society.
They considered that the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Sharjah libraries inspire future generations in the areas of science and literature and enhances the emirate’s position as a global cultural center for knowledge and confirms the strength of books in forming conscious societies capable of looking at the future.
The cultural institutions in Sharjah kept pace with the UAE celebrations of the month of the national reading, which coincides with a century after the establishment of Sharjah libraries, through programs and initiatives that highlight the role of libraries as a basic pillar in promoting the cultural and knowledge renaissance of the emirate.
The officials emphasized that this ancient cultural heritage was a basis for an integrated cultural project that strengthened the position of Sharjah as the global capital of the book, reflecting the emirate’s vision in investing in knowledge as a driving force towards development and innovation.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, expressed many thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his continuous support and vision that contributed to making Sharjah a beacon of culture and science, pointing to the club’s participation in the Centenary of Sharjah Public Libraries, which reflects the depth commitment of the emirate to culture and knowledge.
In turn, His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said that the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Sharjah libraries is a historical occasion to remember the pivotal role that the libraries played in establishing a cultural and knowledge renaissance that contributed to raising Sharjah’s position as one of the most prominent capitals of knowledge and culture in the region and the world, stressing that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi put the book and libraries a civilized reference To build a conscious and creative society capable of achieving his country’s development aspirations and aspirations.
He added that the support and leadership of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, had a great impact in transforming Sharjah’s cultural efforts, foremost of which is the libraries efforts into a strategic vision that exceeds its traditional roles and local borders to contribute effectively to the advancement of the Barah of Societies and motivating future generations to foresee the future.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim, head of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, said that the institute has a major role in celebrating the centenary of Sharjah libraries, as libraries are one of the most important pillars of the cultural and knowledge renaissance that distinguished the emirate over the past decades.
He added that in this context the institute rehabilitated the Al -Hosn Library, which is the first of its kind in the Emirates.
And Dr. Muhammad Safi Al -Mostaghanemi, Secretary -General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, said that the National Reading month this year covered the centenary of the Sharjah libraries, which was established by Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi a century ago, so the nucleus of a scientific and civilizational renaissance was enlightened by the visions of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, which made the book a habitat for the promotion and a key to competing with the nations.
He added that the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah is one of the fruits of this civilized project that the book sees the pillar of the Renaissance of Nations and attends and seeks to enhance the position of Arab culture.
For her part, Marwa Al -Aqoubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom in Sharjah said that the celebration of the national reading month strengthens the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah to consolidate the culture of the book and the love of knowledge and is an incentive to expand the initiatives aimed at instilling the love of reading in the hearts of citizens, residents and visitors, and consolidating the UAE’s position as a destination for creators from publishers, painters, authors and all workers in creative industries and fields Cultural.
Rashid Al -Kous, Executive Director of the Emirati Publishers Association, stressed the importance of the pioneering cultural role of Sharjah libraries, noting that this event reflects the ancient cultural march of the Emirate of Sharjah and constitutes an important platform to highlight the success of the emirate in consolidating literature and knowledge as an integral part of the fabric of society.
Dr. Tod Lorsen, Director of the American University in Sharjah, said that the centenary of Sharjah Public Libraries reflects the deep commitment of the emirate to knowledge, culture and intellectual growth, which are values that constitute the essence of the university’s mission, indicating that reading is the basis on which critical thinking is based.
In turn, Ali Ahmed Al -Hosani, Director General of the Sharjah Special Education Authority, said that the Centenary of Sharjah Public Libraries is a historical event that does not represent a celebration of a hundred years since the establishment of libraries, but rather it is a renewal of the era to continue investing in thought and creativity and inspiration for students to be the future pioneers in the fields of science, literature, culture, values and heritage.
