The Sharjah Reading Festival for Children 2025 starts April 23

Sharjah, March 13 / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority announced the launch of the 16th session of the Sharjah Reading Festival, during the period from April 23 to May 4 at the Expo Center, Sharjah, where it presents a wide range of new versions designated for children and adolescents, as well as an interactive events, theatrical, artistic performances, educational and recreational activities that last for 12 days.
The festival is celebrated this year with a series of interactive workshops presented by an elite group of experts and specialists, with the aim of developing children’s skills and adolescents, developing their creative talents and expanding their intellectual and cognitive horizons.
The festival celebrates creators in the field of children’s literature by honoring the winners of the “Sharjah Prize for Child Books”, “The Sharjah Prize for Child Book”, “The Sharjah Voice Book Award” and “The Sharjah Prize for Child Book for People with Visual Needs”, which celebrates distinguished talents in the field of child literature and honoring writers, painters and creative publishers who contribute to upgrading in this field.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, Eman Sharjah, led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the vision of his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, stressed that the book is the active element in the formation of the child and the development of his creativity and that knowledge is the cornerstone of building a generation capable of looking forward to the future, The emirate’s constant interest in the child and his culture comes through leading initiatives and projects that exalt the reading and knowledge.
He pointed to the directives of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, to study the festival’s agenda and develop it in a way that keeps pace with the requirements of the times and ensures the provision of a rich and renewable cultural experience for children and adolescents, in a way that enhances the festival’s position as an extension of the Sharjah Cultural Project and part of the civilizational renaissance of the United Arab Emirates that puts investment in knowledge and enabling new generations at the top of its priorities.
Khawla Al -Majaini, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Reading Festival for the Child, said that the festival focuses this year on the presentation of carefully designed activities and workshops to meet the needs of children and adolescents, as it combines learning and entertainment in an interactive environment that encourages discovery and developing skills and depends on the diversity of activities starting from creative workshops that enhance writing and drawing skills to theatrical performances and scientific experiences that open new horizons to Children to learn.
She explained that the festival allows publishers, writers and creators the opportunity to meet the audience, which contributes to promoting the love of reading and interaction with the book and literary content in a direct way and providing an experience that enriches the child’s imagination and helps him to develop his interests and enhance his knowledge and experiences.
