Over the course of three days, the city of Sidi Bou Said in the Tunisian capital witnessed a remarkable creative movement embraced by the Néjma Ezzahra Palace, where the House of Poetry in Kairouan turned the page on the tenth session of the festival amidst remarkable public interaction.
The festival activities were held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture, with the qualitative participation of Tunisian poets, critics, and writers from Algeria and Libya.

Jamila Al Majri said that Sharjah’s continued patronage of Arab culture and the celebration of the ten-year anniversary of the establishment of the Houses of Poetry embody the interest that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah attaches to supporting the cultural movement and enhancing the presence of poetry and literature in the Arab world, pointing out that the House of Poetry in Kairouan hosted young poetic talents and provided opportunities to exchange literary and cultural experiences, which contributed to strengthening ties between Arab poets and providing a fertile space for creativity and artistic dialogue between generations.
She added that the House of Poetry in Kairouan supports young talents through training programmes, workshops and regular poetry readings, which has contributed to refining the skills of emerging poets and enabling them to participate effectively in the Arab cultural scene.
The critical symposium accompanying the festival was entitled “Poetic Forms in the Code of Arabic Poetry,” and contributed to deepening the understanding of the importance of poetic forms and their richness through critical reading, and touched on the analysis of the styles of Arabic poetry, starting from the ragz, through the transition from the ragz to the poem, then the poetic piece, then the musammad, the muwashah, and other types, all the way to the modern poetic experience.
The symposium focused on the vitality and breadth of the Arabic poetry blog as an open space for experimentation and innovation without straying from the rhythmic and rhetorical roots that formed the basis of the Arab poetic experience.
The closing ceremony also included a group of new poetry readings that presented a distinct artistic experience that recalled moments of the past and was inspired by aesthetic images from those scenes deeply rooted in memory to translate human feelings and experiences into vibrant texts.
Poets and critics participating in the Kairouan Arab Poetry Festival said that poetry houses in the Arab world have represented a qualitative event since His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah called for their establishment, expressing their thanks to Sharjah as a cultural incubator for Arab creators that takes their hands, supports them, and provides them with everything they need.
The House of Poetry in Kairouan announced the names of the winners of the “Maghreb Poetry Competition 2025,” which comes in the context of the House’s openness to new poetic experiences and voices and its support of young poets and care for their talents.
