The UAE participates in the third meeting of senior humanitarian officials in Europe on Sudan

As a major humanitarian donor to North Africa, the UAE participated in the third meeting of the European Union’s senior officials on Sudan, which was hosted by Brussels.
The high -level meeting gathered the most prominent human donors and stakeholders from all member states of the European Union, international organizations and the main partner countries to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, and to reach collective and effective responses to alleviate their severity.
The fruitful discussions represented an important step towards strengthening multilateral cooperation and dialogue between humanitarian actors and donors in response to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
Participants focused on addressing imminent security risks and resolving logistical challenges by enhancing coordination between United Nations agencies, NGOs and local actors, to ensure the delivery of aid in a timely man The guarantee of aid to the most vulnerable groups, including patients, children, the elderly and women, remains a major priority in the humanitarian efforts of the UAE in the region.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of supporting local actors by building capacity and sharing risk fairly to achieve the main humanitarian goals.
The UAE delegation, Rashid Al -Humairi, Director of the Department of Development and International Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was headed, as he affirmed the firm commitment of the country to continue to provide humanitarian aid and support diplomatic efforts to alleviate the continuous conflict.
He also expressed the UAE’s readiness to enhance its humanitarian and coordination efforts to ensure life -saving aid to the needy.
Since its foundation, the UAE has paid great attention to humanitarian aid and civilization, which is the basis of its policy. In this context, the state has continued its fixed commitment to the crisis in Sudan since April 2023, with a focus on addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation and adopting an approach that puts civilian needs in the foreground.
In this regard, since 2014 the UAE has provided 3.5 billion US dollars aid to the Sudanese people with the aim of meeting its urgent needs and supporting recovery and development in the long term.
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in 2023, it has also pledged to provide more than 600 million US dollars, including 200 million dollars during the high -level humanitarian conference to support the Sudanese people in February 2025, the first of its kind for this year, and is expected to serve as an incentive for future conferences to support Sudan.
The UAE continues its leadership in global efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering, as it recently opened a field hospital in Mudhoul, in the northern state of Bahr al -Ghazal, southern Sudan, after success in establishing two similar hospitals in Amjaras and Abrachi in Chad, who provided treatment of approximately 90,000 patients.
These initiatives reflect the deep commitment of the UAE to human solidarity and sustainable development in Sudan, southern Sudan and neighboring countries.
