A international welcoming the border demarcation agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

On Friday, UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres expressed his welcome to the signing of the border demarcation agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In a statement, the Secretary -General expressed his sincere congratulations to the Governments of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and their people on the signing of the agreement.

He pointed to his aspirations in a sustainable construction process between the two countries, towards enhancing mutual trust, good -neighborly relations and a peaceful future for their people and the wider region.

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan announced the resumption of flights and the opening of the border between them closed 4 years ago.

This comes in accordance with an agreement signed by the Presidents of the two countries today, Friday, during the visit of the President of Tajikistan to Beskik.
Negotiations began to demarcate its borders in December 2002, with a length between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan about 980 km.
