3 dead at least in an explosion in the city of Lattakia, western Syria

At least three people were killed and 12 were wounded in an explosion in the city of Latakia in western Syria, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was a “accident” caused by war remnants.
SANA reported that a “violent explosion” rocked “the southern Raml neighborhood in the city of Lattakia and the reasons are still unknown,” noting that it occurred in a “four -storey building.”
Then, quoting Lattakia Governorate, she reported that the explosion “left until the moment three dead and 12 injured,” adding, “Civil defense teams and the people are still looking for injured and missing people.”
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the explosion is “an accident caused by a missile of warships, which exploded during its dismantling by a person working in collecting scrap at his home.”
Eyewitnesses reported the voice of a “loud explosion”.
They added, “We went to the place, so we saw a completely destroyed building and around it a number of civil defense men and ambulances and a large number of people who gathered to lose the stranded under the rubble.”
A photo published by the “SANA” agency showed a cloud of white smoke from the place.
A report issued by the “Humanity and Integration” organization last month warned of the risks posed by the remaining irreversible munitions from the devastating conflict that erupted in 2011.
During the past month, more than eight civilians, including three children, were killed when unexploded munitions were caught in a house in northwestern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Civil Defense.
