المملكة: Self -sufficiency 107%.. Fig meets the needs of the market with 28 thousand tons annually
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture affirmed that the Kingdom’s production of figs exceeded “28,159” thousand tons during the year 2023 AD, which provided it and its provision to meet the needs of the market, as this production contributed to achieving a self -sufficiency rate of “107%”, to enhance food security according to the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.
During its campaign “Our trip from our land”, which she launched during the Holy Month, the Ministry explained that figs are one of the strategic fruits in the Kingdom, as well as an increasing demand during agricultural seasons, noting that local production covers consumer needs and enhances the abundance of national products in the markets.
It also assured farmers on its continued adoption of the latest agricultural technologies, such as smart agriculture and greenhouses, with the aim of raising the efficiency of production and improving the quality of the crop, taking into account environmental sustainability and rationalizing water consumption, in line with the targets of Vision 2030.

The Ministry called on consumers to support local products, stressing that local figs are characterized by its high quality and nutritional value, which makes it a favorite option in local and international markets, and stressed the importance of reducing food waste and enhancing the culture of sustainable consumption.
