The Minister of Economy sees the techniques of a center "Insta Block" To protect intellectual property

Abu Dhabi, March 18 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy, confirmed that the establishment of the Insta Block Center reflects the state’s commitment to the development of a pioneering system to protect intellectual property depending on the best practices used globally, creating a creative environment that supports talented and innovators, and enabling the creative economy tools according to the vision of “We UAE 2031”.
This came during his visit to the Insta Block Center for immediate blocking in Dubai Media City, which was established by the Ministry of Economy with the aim of addressing the sites of spreading digital content that violates the legislation and laws of intellectual property protection in the country.
Bin Touq reviewed the mechanisms of the work of the center, and the advanced technologies it uses, which include the use of artificial intelligence tools to determine the violating content and withhold it immediately, which enhances the speed and efficiency of enforcement of the legislation concerned with protecting intellectual property rights, through partnerships and agreements that were signed with major media institutions and regional and international digital platforms, which aim to coordinate joint efforts to ensure protection Intellectual rights of creators and producers of digital content.
The Minister of Economy said that the development of the intellectual property sector in the UAE represents a strategic priority that is being achieved in partnership with government and private agencies, and by adopting the latest technologies to enhance the enforcement of legislation, which contributes to enabling creators and producers to make the most of their intellectual and creative work, and ensure the sustainability of the digital economy.
The visit shed light on the agreements concluded by the Ministry of Economy with a number of bodies, which aim to enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property rights protection, and to provide advanced mechanisms to protect the rights of authors and creators, and to ensure that the content is not published and exploited except with the permission of the rights holders.
His Excellency Ben Touq stressed the importance of continuing the development of the “Insta Block” center, and enhancing cooperation with local and international partners to expand digital protection, stressing that accelerating the violating content operations enhances the UAE’s ability to protect creativity, which establishes its pioneering position in supporting the possibilities of the new and digital economy.
The blocking of the violating sites in the country witnessed a qualitative leap during the year 2024; 4,557 violating sites were blocked, compared to 1123 sites in 2023, reflecting the great progress achieved by the UAE in the face of digital infringement and protecting the intellectual rights of creators.
The “Insta Block” project comes within the new system of intellectual property, which includes more than 30 initiatives aimed at enhancing the state’s position in addressing any practice that violates intellectual property rights, as well as within the efforts of the Ministry of Economy in establishing a safe and sustainable digital environment, which enhances investment in creative content, and stimulates the growth of the digital media sector in the country, in a way that contributes to enhancing its competitiveness in global indicators to combat digital piracy.
