We do not have time for “quarrels” with the opposition

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the arrest of the opposition’s Istanbul mayor, Akram Imamoglu, on the background of his accusation in a corruption case.
This came during a breakfast table with former parliamentarians from the Justice and Development Party in the capital, Ankara, on Thursday, in which he said that “the government does not have time for quarrels with the opposition, because it is busy solving the country’s problems,” according to the Turkish TRT channel, on the “X” platform.
On Wednesday, the main public prosecutor in Istanbul announced the arrest of the city’s mayor Akram Imamoglu, against the backdrop of charges related to “an organization involved in corruption, bribery and fraud.”
On the other hand, Ihsanoglu stressed that he “will not surrender” the pressures exerted by the authorities, while the Turkish authorities have strengthened their security measures in a number of main streets in Istanbul, especially in front of the headquarters of the main police department.
In conjunction with these events, reports indicated that the exchange rate of the dollar against the Turkish lira increased by more than 10%, exceeding the first time, a barrier of 41 pounds.
