America dismantles an Iranian cyber network targeting journalists and opponents

The US Department of Justice announced the confiscation of four electronic domains that it said were being used by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security to carry out cross-border hacking and psychological attacks.
The US Justice Department stated that the confiscated websites were used to publish stolen data, promote cyber attacks, and incite the targeting of journalists, opponents, and individuals, as part of what it described as “psychological warfare” operations supported by Tehran.
Investigations revealed that these platforms were linked to each other through a unified operational structure, which included sabotage cyber attacks and the use of hacked data in advertising campaigns.
The US authorities indicated that one of these entities claimed responsibility for a malware attack targeting a multinational medical technology company in March 2026.
The activities also included publishing sensitive personal information for hundreds of individuals, including people linked to Israeli institutions, in addition to sending death threats to Iranian opponents and journalists inside and outside the United States.
The Department of Justice confirmed that this step comes as part of broader efforts to disrupt cyber infrastructure linked to Iran and confront threats targeting US national security.
