Trump signs an executive order to close the Ministry of Education

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order asking the Minister of Education to “take all measures to facilitate the closure of” the ministry, a goal that the American right has been seeking for decades, protesting the federal intervention in the educational system that each state is run separately.

“We want a good education like Norway, Sweden and Denmark,” the US President said from the White House.

“We will close it as soon as possible,” Trump added during a signing ceremony at the White House. It does not help us »

Trump has described the Ministry of Education as a wasteful bureaucratic device for a liberal ideology. However, the completion of the process of canceling the entire ministry may be impossible without the approval of the “Congress”, which established the ministry in 1979.

The Trump administration has already begun to reduce the size of the ministry, by laying down employees and canceling some programs, as the workforce is being reduced to half, in addition to significant reductions in the Civil Rights Office and the Education Sciences Institute that collects data about the level of academic progress in the country.

On Ukraine, Trump said that the United States will soon sign an agreement with Ukraine to reach rare minerals in this country.

In a speech at the White House, Trump explained that he signed an order to increase the production of the United States from very important minerals and will conclude “very soon” an agreement with Ukraine on rare minerals.
