The resolution extends about 532 thousand Cuban, Haiti, Nicaragoy and Venezuele who came to the United States under a program launched by former President Joe Biden, in October 2022, and expanded in January of the following year.

They will lose legal protection 30 days after the publication of the Ministry of Internal Security in the Federal Registry scheduled for Tuesday. This means that the immigrants covered by the program “should leave the United States” by April 24 unless they get another immigration status allowing them to stay in the country, according to the ministry’s order.

The program directed to Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans allowed the entry of up to 30,000 immigrants per month from the four countries with bleak records in the field of human rights, to the United States for two years. But the Ministry of Internal Security confirmed, on Friday, that the program is “temporary”.
