We will not negotiate with Trump until he respects our country

The new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, said that the commercial policies of US President Donald Trump will be harmful to the Americans themselves.

This came in press statements, which were reported by Western media, indicating Carney saying that his country will not negotiate with Trump except when respect appears to Canada as a sovereign country.

He continued: “Nevertheless, we are confident that negotiations with the Trump administration will be comprehensive,” adding: “Respecting our sovereignty is not a big thing we ask from Trump.”

Trump’s announcement of the application of additional customs duties to Canada by 25% to strained relations between the two countries, especially with the beginning of the application of those fees during the current March.

The customs duties imposed by Trump included all the Canadian products imported by the United States, which is to push Canada to take similar measures to impose additional 25 percent fees on the electricity that the United States of America gets, a step that the White House said could lead to what he described as “severe consequences.”

It is noteworthy that Trump made press statements in which he talked about the inclusion of Canada for the United States of America, claiming that the Canadians have been taking advantage of his country for years, and said that Washington has been supporting Ottawa with 200 billion dollars annually annually.
