The Supreme Energy Council in Dubai discusses the strengthening of the green economy agenda

Dubai, March 23 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Energy Council in Dubai, chaired the eighty -seventh meeting of the Council, which was held by default, in the presence of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice -President of the Council.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al -Muhairbi, Secretary -General of the Council, and members of the council are His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, His Excellency Abdullah Bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates International Aluminum Company, His Excellency Saif Hamid Al Falasi, CEO of Enock Group, Juan Freyle, Director General of the Dubai Petroleum Corporation, and Dubai Equipment Authority “DOSP”, Mona Al -Osaimi, Executive Director Strategy and institutional governance in the Roads and Transport Authority.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic goals of sustainability in Dubai and consolidating its position as a leading city in the field of energy innovation, reflecting the emirate’s forward -looking approach to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
The Council reviewed the latest developments related to the green buildings regulations in Dubai, which is the cornerstone of the sustainability strategy of the emirate, and aims to reduce carbon emissions by raising energy and water efficiency in new buildings, to reach Dubai buildings to zero energy buildings in the long run.
Among the main axes of the meeting were the organizational framework for the circulation of petroleum products, as the Council shed light on the success of the Executive Council Resolution No. 16 of 2019, to form the Petroleum Products Trading Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, which contributed to achieving significant improvements to safety protocols, risk management, and compliance between distributors.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer said that in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai “may God bless him”, we are working to enhance Dubai’s transformation into a neutral economy of carbon, and the committee to regulate the circulation of petroleum products and the updated regulations of green buildings reflect our pre -emptive approach in sustainable governance, to ensure Dubai remains at the forefront of global green innovation.
His Excellency added, “We aim to enhance Dubai’s leadership in the global energy transformation by accelerating the implementation of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the carbon neutrality strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai to provide 100% of the production capacity of energy from clean energy sources by the year 2050,”
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al -Muhairbi said that through targeted action plans, specialized inspection teams, and strong organizational frameworks, we are working to consolidate Dubai’s position as a national and regional power model for energy governance, and our efforts are centered on promoting safety and sustainability and ensuring long -term economic flexibility.
