Ozil added that millions of people also made symbolic voices in favor of Imamoglu in ballot boxes that were held under the name “Solidarity” boxes across the country, as well as the official vote of party members.
This vote was seen as a measure to measure the popularity of Imamoglu’s popularity among all Turks, and not only between the followers of the party and those who reside in Istanbul.
Ozil said that with a slightly sorting than half of the solidarity ballot boxes, Imamoglu had already obtained more than 13 million symbolic votes other than the Republican People’s Party members. It is reported that the population of Türkiye is 85.6 million.
Imamoglu, 53, is widely seen as the most prominent competitor to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Imamoglu denies the charges against him, accusing the government using the case to remove a political opponent.
Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Interior withdrew the duties of Istanbul’s mayor from Imamoglu. It is still unclear whether the government will appoint an official to manage the major city that extends through the continents of Europe and Asia.
