“The Supreme Energy in Dubai” reviews the developments of green buildings regulations

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Energy Council in Dubai, chaired the 87th meeting of the council that was held by default, in the presence of the Vice -President of the Council, Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer.

A statement yesterday stated that the meeting focused on enhancing the strategic goals of sustainability in Dubai, and consolidating its position is a leading city in the field of energy innovation, reflecting the evaluation approach to the emirate in reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, and the council reviewed the latest developments related to green buildings in Dubai, which is the cornerstone of the sustainability strategy of the emirate, and aims to reduce carbon emissions, through Raising energy and water efficiency in the new buildings, to reach Dubai buildings to zero -energy buildings in the long run, and these regulations are in line with Dubai’s commitment to support the green economy and ensure compliance with global environmental standards.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Energy Council in Dubai, said in a post on his account at the X platform: “During the 87th meeting of the Supreme Energy Council in Dubai, we affirmed the firm commitment of the emirate to sustainability, by strengthening the main policies that push the efficiency and innovation.”

His Highness added: «The strengthening of green buildings and the governance of petroleum products circulation constitutes a basic step towards harmonizing global standards, reflecting the advisory approach to the emirate in reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, so that we can continue through these initiatives to establish Dubai’s pioneering position in the shift towards a green and sustainable economy.

Among the main axes of the meeting were the organizational framework for the circulation of petroleum products, as the council shed light on the success of the Executive Council Resolution No. (16) of 2019, in forming the Committee for the Regulation of Petroleum Products Trading in the Emirate of Dubai, which contributed to achieving significant improvements in safety protocols, risk management, and compliance between distributors, and this framework has strengthened governance in the petroleum products sector, to ensure its compatibility with economic priorities And environmental for Dubai.

The Vice -President of the Council, Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, affirmed Dubai’s firm commitment to sustainability, saying: “In line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him, we are working to enhance Dubai’s transformation into a neutral economy of carbon.”

He added, “The Petroleum Products Trading Committee and the updated regulations for green buildings reflect our proactive approach to sustainable governance, to ensure Dubai remains at the forefront of global green innovation.”

Al -Tayer continued: “We aim to enhance Dubai’s leadership in the global energy transformation, by accelerating the implementation of (Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050), and (Carboniacrow 2050 strategy for the Emirate of Dubai) to provide 100% of the production capacity of energy from clean energy sources by 2050.”

For his part, the Secretary -General of the Council, Ahmed Butti Al -Muhairbi, said: “Through targeted action plans, specialized inspection teams, and strong organizational frameworks, we are working to establish Dubai’s position as a national and regional model for energy governance.”
