China exceeds 2 billion kilowatts in non -fossil energy for the first time

BEIJING, on March 28/ WAM/ The Chinese Electricity Council announced that the complex capacity to generate electricity from non -fossil sources in the People’s Republic of China exceeded 2 billion kilowatts until the end of last February, for the first time, representing 58.8% of the total complex capacity to generate energy in the country.
The People’s Daily Online newspaper stated that this achievement comes within the efforts of the Chinese government to accelerate the shift towards green energy, noting that the energy sector recorded annually by 23.3% in non -fossil energy sources, while the complex capacity has multiplied since the start of the implementation of the “fourteenth plan”, achieving a cumulative growth of 103.1%.
According to the official data, the complex capacity of the new energy sources – led by wind and solar energy – reached 1.46 billion kilowatts, constituting 42.8% of the total electrical capabilities, with an annual increase of 32.5%, and a cumulative increase of 18.5 points since the start of the plan.
Indicators show that the complex non -fossil energy capacity in China exceeded the 1 billion kilowatts barrier for the first time at the end of June 2021, to continue its gradual increase, exceeding 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 billion kilowatts, up to 2 billion kilowatts in February 2025.
This accelerated development reflects the commitment of the energy sector in China to implement the “double carbon” goals, by improving the national energy structure, enhancing the diversity of its sources, and accelerating the transformation towards a green and low -carbon model, in support of the efforts to achieve sustainable development in the long run.
