UN concern about the Blue Line exchange

The UN official, Jenin Hennis -Balaskart, added that any exchange of fire – in light of this critical period that Lebanon and the region are going through – cannot be underestimated.

She said that the return of the widespread conflict to Lebanon will be destroyed by civilians on both sides of the blue line, and it must be avoided at any cost. She stressed the maximum importance of all parties committing to self -control.

The United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon said that the time has come to implement the obligations stipulated in the understanding of the endowment of hostilities that were reached in November 2024, as well as the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) that provides a solution that puts an end to repeated violence sessions.

She said that the United Nations confirms its commitment to work with all concerned parties to prevent more escalation and turn Resolution 1701 into reality.
