“Al -Awab” .. a breakfast table with 7 pots on firewood

Ali Abdullah Al -Kaabi, nicknamed “Al -Awab”, embodies a unique model in reviving heritage in a profitable area, by preparing breakfast meals for fasting people in a traditional way that depends on the cooking of firewood, which is a method of inheriting from his late mother.

The 46 -year -old began his journey in this field three years ago, motivated by the preparation of the fasting meals of the “fasting breakfast” initiative, which is affiliated with charitable societies, where he and his wife were among the productive families participating in the initiative.

This year, he decided to move on his own to provide breakfast to the fasting meals, relying on his self -support and the donations of the people of the region.

The primary goal was to provide meals for the fasting people from employment and the needy, but he was surprised by the transformation of his initiative into a phenomenon in the region, where the people began to rush to him with the power to take meals for their homes.

Al -Awabid said: “I started with one amount, and today the food was prepared in seven pots, using the firewood that gives the dishes its original flavor, which attracted the elderly in the region, so they became keen to attend, contribute and donate, and insist on paying alms to prepare breakfast.”

Al -Abed begins preparing from 11 am with the help of his brother and family members, as they cut the chicken and prepare the ingredients themselves.

The menu includes traditional meals such as the bells multiplied by palm fronds, Mandi with fresh meat, and pent -bound by its own sauce.

He stated that the people flock after the afternoon prayer, to receive their meals, and the daily number exceeded 300 meals, with a reserve potential in anticipation of the increase in demand, indicating that the children of the region are participating in the initiative, where his seven -year -old daughter Salama, and his son Muhammad, organizes events for children and distributed gifts.

Al -Awabd affirmed that his initiative was not limited to preparing food only, but also turned into a daily gathering point for the people of the region, where a special tent is focused on receiving the fasting people from the region and employment, in an atmosphere that reflects the spirit of solidarity and compassion during the holy month, and soon the tent became a meeting place that brings together the big and small, sitting at the breakfast table, exchanging conversations and memories. He added that some young people are keen to follow and photograph traditional cooking stages, while the elderly regains the past rituals with a clear longing. The reaction reached its climax when an elderly woman asked to grind the love of mash herself using palm fronds, restoring the old cooking methods that almost disappeared.

And that this spontaneous societal interaction was not limited to documenting the moment, but rather had a great psychological and moral impact on it, as he found in the experience an opportunity to revive the values of giving and social cohesion, just as it was in the past.

He stated that this year witnessed unprecedented support from the people, to the point of having to stop receiving contributions days before the end of the month, and this societal interaction was not limited to documenting the moment, but rather was deeply reflected in it, stressing that this experience changed the atmosphere of Ramadan in the region, adding a great psychological and moral dimension on him, as he felt a spirit of giving and social interconnection renewed between the people as in the past.
