The Ministry of Culture is launched "Reading Ambassadors Initiative"

Abu Dhabi, March 30 / WAM / The Ministry of Culture concluded the National Reading month 2025, by launching the “Reading Ambassadors Initiative” in partnership with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and the Federal Youth Foundation.
This distinctive societal initiative aims to enhance the culture of sustainable reading by choosing a group of influential personalities as inspiring and supportive models for reading.
The Ministry seeks to motivate these personalities to play their societal role in encouraging different groups of society to practice reading as part of their daily activities.
The initiative is launched in its first session with the participation of reading ambassadors who were chosen in major categories that include writers, pioneers, youth, volunteers, and children so that the ambassadors work to enhance the behavior of reading in society by launching and implementing supportive initiatives by various means, in addition to transferring positive experiences and practices that encourage sustainable reading.
They will also contribute to submitting proposals for innovative initiatives that they participate in implementing them in the Ministry’s libraries and centers to consolidate the culture of reading and make it part of the daily life of members of society.
The participation of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood in this initiative comes after announcing the slogan of celebrations of the Emirati child’s day, “the right to national identity and culture” for the current year, confirming the importance of caring for the consolidation of the principles and elements of national identity for children and young adults, and in a way that contributes to enhancing their capabilities to interact with their cultural heritage, participate in it and express it, including the Arabic language, which constitutes one of the most important pillars of identity.
The Council also aims to adopt this slogan to encourage reading in the Arabic language to enhance the association of children in their mother tongue, and to support local and cognitive cultural exchange between different groups of society in a way that contributes to preserving the Emirati folklore, which includes poetry, governance, proverbs and heritage arts, which is consistent with and in line with the goals and goals of the “Reading Ambassadors” initiative.
His Excellency Mubarak Al -Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, pointed out that the ministry is always keen on renewing and innovation in the field of reading by focusing on designing and implementing sustainable creative initiatives that support the state’s efforts to encourage reading practice between members of society, and contribute to its consolidation as a tool for progress and sustainable development.
He added: I believe in the ministry to consolidate the culture of reading as an authentic daily usual, a shared responsibility among all institutions and individuals, and all members of society are active contributors in supporting and highlighting civilizational values through their support and societal cohesion with institutions and entities and their societal initiatives.
He pointed out that the ministry seeks, through this initiative, to make the inspiring societal capabilities in the field of devoting a culture of reading in society, appreciating the sustainable efforts of individuals and personalities supporting the promotion and consolidation of the culture of reading, and highlighting positive experiences and practices for ambassadors in consolidating the culture of reading.
The Ministry, the Council, and the Federal Youth Foundation will provide the necessary support to promote reading ambassadors and highlight their efforts and initiatives through various media outlets, and to provide and grant creative spaces to reading ambassadors in libraries and cultural centers affiliated with the Ministry; In order to enable them to implement their initiatives and transfer their experiences to enhance the culture of reading, and hold an annual forum at the end of each year to present the achievements of the reading ambassadors.
The first session of the initiative included ambassadors from the category of writers and pioneers, Sheikha, Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, writer and poet Dr. Sultan Al -Amimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Emirates writers and writers, Professor Asma Siddiq Al -Mutawa, Foundation and Chairman of the Literary Forum Salon, and Dr. Aisha Balhara Al -Khair, the Research Counselor in the Archives and the National Library, The writer and researcher Fahd Al -Maamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Association for Libraries and Information, and the writer Maitha Al -Khayyat, is a global storyteller and painter in child literature and adolescents, and writer and novelist Mohamed Al Habsi, Director of the Department of Arts at the Culture and Arts Authority.
On the category of volunteers, Mr. Hashem Al -Wali, a coach and writer of a social content maker, and Professor Fatima Al -Hammadi, an accredited coach and head of the “Al Dhafra Tshim” volunteer team.
On the youth category, Professor Sherina Al -Suwaidi, member of the Abu Dhabi Youth Council, Professor Hazza Al -Shehhi, member of the Ras Al Khaimah Council for Youth, Professor Ahmed Matar, member of the Dubai Youth Council, Professor Yaqoub Al -Balushi, member of the Sharjah Youth Council, Professor Muhammad Ali Al Ali, member of the Umm Al Quwain Council for Youth, and Professor Nasser Khaled Al -Harmoudi, member of the Ajman Council for Youth, and Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Al -Abdouli, member of the Fujairah Council for Youth, The Arab Reading Challenge for the year 2023 at the UAE level, and the student Ahmed Faisal Ali, the challenge of the Arab Reading Challenge for the year 2024 at the level of the UAE
On the children’s category, the list included a number of members of the Emirati Parliament for the Child, including Sheikha Rawda Bint Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Dhiab bin Saif Al Nahyan, Sheikha Shamsa Bint Faisal Al -Mualla, Khaled bin Hussein Al Hammadi, Salem bin Muhammad bin Ham Al -Amri, Nouf Yasser Muhammad, Matareh Ibrahim, and Fatima Al -Kaabi.
Sheikha, Dr. Shamma bint Muhammad bin Khaled Al Nahyan, expressed her happiness to join the reading ambassadors initiative, stressing that her relationship with reading started since childhood thanks to her late father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan.
She explained that the critical and interactive reading contributed to the development of its thought and creativity, stressing the role of individuals in consolidating the reading as a natural and societal behavior to build the knowledge and innovation community. It also valued the efforts of the Ministry of Culture in achieving the vision of good leadership by promoting cultural and intellectual construction for future generations.
The writer and poet, Dr. Sultan Al -Amimi, pointed out that reading is no longer just an entertainment activity or a hobby. Rather, it has become one of the most important pillars in building a conscious person who is aware of the value of science and culture, especially in an era in which changes and knowledge accelerates.
