At the “Brix” meeting, the UAE confirms its commitment to continuing to support the global energy transformation

The UAE affirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts to support the global energy transformation and enhance international cooperation to achieve security in the energy sector, in a way that establishes its position as a reliable strategic partner on the global scene in this vital field.

This came during the participation of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the second meeting of the Committee for Senior Energy officials of the BRICS Group countries held in the Brazilian capital, “Brazilia”, in the presence of high -level representatives from member states.

The meeting discussed ways to achieve a balance between energy security and sustainable development, enhance the shift towards the future of low carbon emissions, and the pioneering role of the UAE was highlighted in ensuring the security of global energy supplies and its advanced position in the areas of energy transformation, hydrogen and its derivatives.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure reviewed the achievements achieved in the energy sector, as the UAE topped many indicators worldwide, including comprehensive access to electricity and cooking fuel, investing in renewable and clean energy projects, and improving energy efficiency, reflecting its commitment to achieving the seventh goal of the United Nations sustainable development goals.

The meeting stressed the importance of following up the implementation of the historical “Emirates Agreement” outputs in COP28, which aims to double the production of renewable energy three times, and to increase energy efficiency to twice by 2030, which is in line with the vision of the BRICS Group countries in promoting efforts towards a sustainable future based on clean energy.
