The UAE celebrates the International Day of Autism .. Care and rehabilitation programs with international standards

Abu Dhabi on April 1 / WAM / The UAE will celebrate the International Day of Autism, which falls on April 2 of each year, with the aim of highlighting the need for an autistic spectrum disorder into a conscious environment with their capabilities and supportive to integrate them into the various areas of life as an integral part of society.

The UAE is keen to enhance ties between members of the Emirati society to consolidate cohesion and push sustainable growth to enable individuals with determination with autism to develop their skills, ensure a more quality and safe future for them, and enhance their active presence in society.

The Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination offers care and rehabilitation programs with international standards approved for 522 autistic students in its care and rehabilitation centers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including 221 male and female students at the Abu Dhabi Autism Center, 167 in Al Ain Center, 26 at the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation, 91 students at the Ghayathi Center, 5 students in the commodity center, 4 students in the center Al -Qaa, 3 students in the center of the port, and 5 students at the Al -Waqqa Center.

Aisha Al -Mansouri, director of the Foundation’s Abu Dhabi Autism Center, said that it is necessary to join hands, individuals and work in hand for the sake of autistic people, explaining that the means of integrating them into society are multiple, but the first step is to raise awareness of everything related to disabilities in the community in general and in the school community in particular.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, she stressed the importance of early detection, which facilitates the integration process before it is too late, adding: “The more early the intervention, the easier the student’s capabilities are by focusing on education and developing his academic and interactive skills.”

She added that the Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination is working through its many programs and initiatives to develop the job skills of this category according to the circumstances of each case, where a training program is designed for their own and organized visits to their field of work to follow up their duties independently, and to ensure that job tasks are proportional to the type of disability in each case.

The Abu Dhabi Autism Center receives students of autism spectrum disorder and citizens from the ages of 3 to 5 years in the early intervention department, and from the age of 5 to 15 years in the autism spectrum department and above the age of 15 years in the rehabilitation department.

The center uses strategic treatment methods to modify behavior and use auxiliary technology in addition to choosing specialized educational programs, and the use of the latest modern devices and technologies in education, including smart paintings.

The center also provides 7 approved services for people with autism disorder, which are evaluation and diagnosis, early intervention, education, training and rehabilitation, health, psychological and social care, integration, psychological and social counseling, and employment.

The customized treatment programs differ according to each age group or a satisfactory chip, which are internationally accredited and united programs, including the Titch program, the Lovas program, the Pix program, and the behavior analysis program.

On the other hand, Zayed Upper presented the “Bridges of Hope” program, and a collective counseling program to train parents and families of determination that includes basic information and practical training, in addition to psychological and social consultations to educate, empower and educate participants from families and parents with the basic skills of managing difficult behaviors for their children, several courses were implemented at the local level, and at the Arab level of parents and mothers of people of determination, and training is carried out It is by a multidisciplinary team from the specialized cadres of the institution, including education, behavior modification, homework preparation and physiotherapy.

On the external level, the Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination has implemented several courses from the “Bridges of Hope” program, for mothers, parents and families of the owners of determination with mental disabilities and the disorder of the autism spectrum in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

In a related context, a number of autistic mothers praised the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Autism Center for their rehabilitation and awareness.

The mother of Hamdan Rashid Al -Amiri said that her son joined the center 6 years ago and was suffering from speech problems and some behavioral disorders, and he is currently more interactive and integrated with his surroundings and is able to express his needs, thanks to early intervention and the center’s concern to develop his behavioral skills, treat job pronunciation and use swimming in treating autism spectrum disorders.

For her part, Maitha Walid Al -Maloud confirmed that she had benefited a lot from the experience of treating her daughter in the center after many unsuccessful experiences in other places, praising the skills and capabilities of the specialized citizen cadres included in the center.

In turn, Zayed Al -Jaber, the first Emirati graduate from the Faculty of Special Education at the Emirates University, said within the Zayed High Initiative to localize the profession of a special education teacher, that the UAE youth hold a national duty to work in hand in hand to support autistic people,

And contribute to providing a supportive environment to develop their capabilities.
