The United Nations is concerned about the human losses resulting from the escalation of hostilities in Gaza

New York, April 3/ WAM/ Antonio Guterres, the Secretary -General of the United Nations, expressed his deep concern about the human losses caused by the escalation of hostilities in Gaza, while the killing of more than a thousand people, including women and children, has been condemned since the ceasefire collapsed.
In a statement attributed to the spokesperson for the Secretary -General Stephen Dujarric, he pointed out that the widespread Israeli bombing and wild operations have led to widespread destruction and the displacement of more than 100,000 Palestinians from Rafah during the past two days only, most of them have been displaced several times and with the least luggage.
The Secretary -General also expressed his shock on the Israeli army’s attack on a medical and humanitarian convoy on March 23, killing 15 medical and humanitarian workers in Gaza.
He stressed the need for all parties to the conflict to protect the medical and humanitarian workers at all times, according to what is required by international humanitarian law.
Antonio Guterres pointed to the killing of at least 408 relief workers in Gaza since October 2023, including at least 280 United Nations employees.
The statement renewed the honor of the Secretary -General of all the humanitarian workers who died in this conflict, and renewed his demand for a full, comprehensive and independent investigation into these incidents.
He said that all parties must completely comply with international law at all times, respect and protect civilians, and an end to depriving them of life -saving aid must be placed.
The Secretary -General reiterated his strong condemnation of the October 7 attacks launched by Hamas and other armed Palestinian groups, pointing out that nothing justifies the terrorist attacks of October 7, and nothing justifies the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
He renewed his urgent call to the ceasefire immediately, immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, and to provide humanitarian aid unconventional access to all parts of Gaza.
In response to a question about what was reported in calls for Israel to seize more lands in Gaza, the spokesperson renewed what the Secretary -General of the United Nations stressed the rejection of Security Council Resolution 2735 “2024”, any attempt to change the population or lands in the Gaza Strip, including any measures that reduce the area of Gaza.
The official spokesman said in this regard, the Secretary -General’s concern about the inflammatory speech calling for the Israeli army to control vast areas of the Palestinian territories to add them to the security areas of the State of Israel.
