The role of Al Qasimi is the first Gulf woman to win a prize "Bologna Rajazi" in "Bologna exhibition for child book" 2025

Bologna – Italy on April 3 / WAM / The publisher and the author, Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, achieved a new cultural achievement when she became the first Gulf woman to receive the prestigious “Bologna Ragazi” award for the year 2025 for the category of fictional literature from the Bologna exhibition for the child’s book, for her book “The House of Wisdom” issued by the “Words Group” for publishing.
Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi was awarded the award during a ceremony held yesterday evening, in the “Varnese” hall at the Acoreo Palace in the city of Bologna, in the presence of a large number of Italian and Arab authors and intellectuals from the Bologna Book Fair.
Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi said, this award reflects the positive shift in promoting the comprehensiveness of the children’s books spreading. In light of the challenges the world is witnessing today, and the story of “House of Wisdom” emphasizes the message that books play in achieving unity, progress and enhancing understanding between cultures, as it tells a historical story that sheds light on the role of knowledge in building bridges of communication and preserving human dialogue.
She added: This book represents an invitation to meditate on the importance of knowledge and cultural cooperation in building bridges of communication, as it indicates the historical loss of “House of Wisdom” in Baghdad in 1258 as a great loss of the legacy of human thought, which is the lesson that we still learn from today.
The book carries the drawings of the artist, Majeed Zakri Yong, which added a rich visual dimension to the story.
Yuissi said, working on the book “House of Wisdom”, a unique opportunity to embody the spirit of curiosity and innovation that leads a person to the continuous search for knowledge and dialogue, which is the spirit that Sheikha succeeded in the role of Al Qasimi to express it brilliantly in the texts of the book.
The next day to receive the award, Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi participated, in a dialogue session with the other winners of the “Bologna Ragazi” award, and attended a reception held in the “Words Group” pavilion at the exhibition, where she reviewed her vision about her book “House of Wisdom”, stressing the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and the role of the narration in promoting understanding between peoples, indicating the commitment of Sharjah to publish knowledge through its projects Establishing “House of Wisdom” in the emirate.
Before she received the award, Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi signed copies of her book at the Italian “Gianino Stopani” library, which contributed to her restoration after being subjected to a fire in 2022 by allocating part of the “Sharjah Capital of Book 2019” to support the rehabilitation of the library.
