"Abu Dhabi Ports" Start design and implementation of a development project "Nawatom Ports – Luanda Station" In Angola

Abu Dhabi, April 4 / WAM / Today, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the appointment of the “Mar Civil Construction and Public Works Company” LDA for the design and building of the marine and superstructure of “Nawatom Ports – Luanda Station”, located in the largest port in Angola.

The Abu Dhabi Ports Group also contracted with the “Dar Al -Handasah Consulting Company, poet and company” to provide supervision services for project management and construction.

Luanda port is handling about 76% of container sizes and general goods in Angola, and also provides an outlet to the non -coastal countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia.

The group will, according to the concession agreement, with the Luanda Ports Authority in April 2024, which extends to 20 years, will invest more than $ 250 million until 2026 in the station update project.

On January 30, 2025, Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced its long -term operations to manage and develop the multi -purpose station, in a move that will contribute to expanding its presence in the sub -Saharan Africa region, confirming its commitment to developing logistical infrastructure in this region.

The project is witnessing great development and modernization work to support the activities of the general cargo handling, containers and rolling ships at the station, thus the only station in the port of Luanda, in which the depth of the submersible reaches 16 meters and is qualified to receive and handle huge ships of the “Super Post Panamax”, with a load of 14 thousand stereotypes (measuring 20 feet).

The station will also be equipped with modern equipment and advanced technological systems, and its square of 192 thousand square meters will be redesigned, which contributes to supporting container handling activities in a more efficient and effective way, and it is expected to complete comprehensive modernization work during the first quarter of 2027.

With the completion of the project, new equipment for the container handles will be installed at the station, which will increase its capacity to handle the containers from 25 thousand stereotypes to 350 thousand stereotypes, and from its ability to handle vehicles to more than 40 thousand vehicles.

He added that the project development project and its rehabilitation to receive the Super Post Panamax and increase its capabilities to handle containers and vehicles, confirms our commitment to our customers and partners by providing smooth and highly efficient logistical services and solutions, and that this project reflects our tireless endeavor to contribute to supporting economic growth in Angola and neighboring countries, and working to make the port a vital crossing gateway to supply trade regionally And globally.

It is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi Ports Group has succeeded during the past three years in expanding its spread in Africa, by allocating significant investments throughout the continent, its total exceeds 800 million dollars in the port sectors, shipping, marine and logistical services in Egypt, the Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and Angola.
