The start of the activities of the Global Forum for Local Production 2025 in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, April 7 /WAM /His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, head of the Emirates Drug Foundation, opened the activities of the third session of the International Forum for Local Production (WLPF) in Abu Dhabi.
The World Health Organization is organized with the support of the Emirates Drug Corporation at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the slogan: “Enhancing local production for health justice, global health security and sustainable development.”

The global event continues until April 9th ​​and witnesses high -level participation of heads of state, ministers, government officials, leaders of international organizations, representatives of the private sector, financial institutions and civil society in addition to a group of technical and industrial experts in the fields of health care and pharmaceutical industries in order to exchange experiences and formulate innovative strategies.

His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais stressed that the forum is an important station towards promoting fair access to medicines, vaccines and health techniques, stressing the importance of the strategic partnership between the Emirates Drug Foundation and the World Health Organization.
His Excellency expressed his pride in the achievements of the UAE as a reliable center for innovation in the pharmaceutical industries, noting the continuous investments in expanding the capabilities of local manufacturing, enhancing research systems and adopting the highest international standards.
He pointed to the state’s adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, huge data and smart manufacturing, which makes local production a strategic development necessity to promote global health.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi stressed the importance of international partnerships and qualitative investments in the pharmaceutical sector as a national priority that contributes to facilitating the flow of technology and knowledge and enabling local companies to access global markets and enhance the state’s position as a pioneering center in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
His Excellency said that the strengthening of the local production of medicines and medical supplies is a strategic axis in the UAE vision for global health security and the fair access to health care.

Thanks to its location as a center for trade and investment, the state continues to build an integrated system for pharmaceutical industries based on innovation and sustainability.

The first day of the forum witnessed a number of keywords, including the speech of His Excellency Dr. Fatima Al -Kaabi, Director General of the Emirates Drug Corporation, during which it affirmed the Foundation’s commitment to achieving organizational excellence and supporting innovation in local manufacturing.
She pointed out that the drug market in the country amounted to $ 5.6 billion in 2024 and is expected to exceed 8 billion dollars by 2030 driven by investing in modern technologies and local manufacturing.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Grebresus, Director General of the World Health Organization, delivered a speech in which he praised the UAE hosting of this global forum held in conjunction with the annual investment conference (AIM ConGress 2025).

The importance of the forum stressed a platform to enhance international cooperation and build flexible local production systems, noting the need to adopt a comprehensive approach that includes the transfer of technology, research, development, data exchange and enhancement of organizational frameworks.

The first day agenda included high -level dialogue sessions, most notably “cooperation between the North and South countries: achieving sustainable local production to achieve fairness, global health security and sustainable development” and “enhance consistency in policies and government commitment” and the role of organizational excellence and quality guarantee in manufacturing health products “in addition to” developing human capital to achieve sustainable development “.

Meanwhile, a number of bankers reviewed fundable business models to support local production.
