The second in the world as the capital of food .. Dubai exports 1,200 new restaurants licenses in 2024

Dubai, April 9 / WAM / The Dubai Economy and Tourism Department report revealed the third annual food and restaurant sector in the emirate of its distinguished and growing position as a leading destination in food tourism, and one of the most prominent capitals of cooking arts during 2024.

The report highlighted the latest trends and the most prominent achievements and important stations in the food and restaurant sector in the emirate during the past year, including the release of 1,200 new restaurant licenses, its categories and varieties diversified to reflect the Dubai multicultural identity, and to enhance its commitment to providing options that meet various tastes to the emirate’s residents and visitors alike.

A sample of food lovers and restaurant pioneers in Dubai was surveyed during the months of September and October 2024, while the latest version of the Gastronomy Always on, launched by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, resulted in positive results with the rate of customer satisfaction to 62 percent.
The report included the opinions of more than 1,100 people from a variety of Dubai residents, to reveal the sixth edition of the report on the change in food tastes and preferences.
The report also showed high levels of satisfaction based on the main factors that the population puts into consideration when choosing the eating destination, which includes, “at a rate of satisfaction of 70 percent, an increase of 3 percent compared to the fifth edition”, innovation “with a rate of satisfaction of 61 percent, an increase of 2 percent”, the cultural heritage “with a rate of satisfaction of 58 percent, an increase of 1 percent”, and global chefs. “With a rate of satisfaction 64 percent, an increase of 2 percent.”
“The food and restaurants sector in Dubai is an essential part of the emirate’s tourism strategy and its ambitious vision, and its continuous growth reflects the vision of the rational leadership in achieving the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aimed at making the emirate the best destination in the world to live, work and visit,” said Ahmed Al -Khaja, the Executive Director of the Dubai Festival and Retail Foundation, affiliated to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
He added: “The results of the annual report on the food and restaurant sector in Dubai 2024 emphasize the leading position of Dubai as a global center for food and cooking arts, as it highlights the great diversity of food offers, and the concepts of unique restaurants inspired by about 200 nationalities whose citizens live in Dubai.”
The Dubai International Brand Tracker has revealed the distinguished position of the emirate in the food and restaurants sector.
The results of the first half of the year 2024 showed that Dubai came second after Paris as a leading international capital for cuisine, restaurants and cooking arts, superior to prominent destinations such as London, New York and Tokyo, and Dubai topped the diversity list in the food experiences it provides, to exceed Paris and Singapore.
In turn, social media and digital media have contributed significantly to promoting food offers provided by Dubai and enhancing interaction with food lovers.
According to Dubai’s Department of Economics and Tourism, 70 percent of the pioneers of restaurants in the UAE get advice from social media before choosing the restaurants they want to visit.
Dubai residents attach great importance to hygiene standards when choosing eating destinations, in line with the city’s commitment to best practices, which enhances the feeling of restaurants with reassurance, as 50 percent of the poll participants indicated that hygiene is the most important factor in making their decisions, followed by the type of kitchen by 49 percent, the general atmosphere by 43 percent, the quality of service by 42 percent, and the value against money by 38 percent.
The reviews and opinions that restaurant pioneers on the Internet leave also a growing role in the process of choosing the destination, as it affects the selection of daily meals by 27 percent, and special occasions by 34 percent.
Google data recorded 741,500 online search operations on the food and beverage sector offers in Dubai during the first seven months of the year 2024, which is 23.5 percent, or 600,500 operations.
