America intends to monitor the pages of migrants on social media

The US government said today, Wednesday, that it will start examining the pages of migrants and visa seekers on social media platforms in search of what it described as anti -Semitic activity, which led to rapid condemnation of rights defenders, some of whom are Jews, who raised concerns related to freedom of expression and monitoring.
The administration of President Donald Trump tried to take strict measures against the protests supporting the Palestinians on the devastating military attack by Israel, the US ally, on Gaza after the attack by the “Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement” (Hamas) on Israel in October 2023.
The American Immigration and Nationality Services Department of the Ministry of Internal Security said in a statement: “Today, the American Immigration and Nationality Services Services Department will start considering the activity of anti -Semitic foreigners on social media platforms and physical harassment of Jewish individuals as reasons for rejecting requests for immigration.”
The statement added that this step will immediately affect those who submit requests to obtain a permanent legal residency status, and foreign students and affiliated with educational institutions linked to an active anti -Semitic activity.
“There is no place in the United States for the rest of the sympathizers of terrorism in the world,” the statement said.
The Trump administration often describes the voices supporting the Palestinians as anti -Semitic and sympathetic to armed groups such as “Hamas”, “Hezbollah” and the Houthis, which Washington classifies “terrorists”.
The American administration is trying to deport some foreign students, canceled many visas, and universities have warned against reducing federal financing due to the pro -Palestinians protests.
Protesters, some of them from Jewish groups, say that the Trump administration mixes their criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza with their support for the rights of Palestinians on the one hand, and anti -Semitism and supporting extremism on the other hand.
Human rights defenders and human rights experts in the Trump administration, including today, Wednesday’s declaration, which they say threaten freedom of expression and closer to observation and targeting immigrants.
The Freedom of Individual Foundation (Fire) said that the Trump administration “gives the official nature to control practices.”
She added: «By monitoring and targeting green visas and cards and targeting them, nothing but their expression of their opinion guaranteed to the constitution, the administration replaces fear and silence, America’s commitment to free and open discourse.
The Nixos project, which addresses the anti -Semitism, said that the Trump administration is chasing migrants in the name of confronting anti -Semitism and dealing with anti -Semitism as an imported problem.
Human rights defenders also expressed concerns about the terrorism of Islam and the bias against the Arabs during the war between Israel and Gaza.
