“No one will escape punishment” … a new statement by Trump about the exceptions of customs duties

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump tried to clarify the position of US tariffs on high -tech products coming from China after a weekend of confusion, which added new mystery to his global trade plan.

Trump wrote on “Truth Social”: “No one will escape the punishment for unfair commercial budgets, and non -monetary customs barriers, which were used by other countries against us, especially China, which treats us with the worst treatment ever!”

He added: “No exception to customs definitions is announced on Friday. These products are subject to the current fentanel definitions by 20%, and they are only transferred to a different definition category. False news knows this, but it refuses to publish it.”

On Friday, the Customs and Protection Authority issued a base to exempt some high -tech products, including smartphones, laptops and hard drive engines, from the mutual customs tariffs imposed by Trump. Many of these products are coming from China.

Exceptions sparked relief in the technology sector, and led to expectations of technology shares at the opening of the markets.

However, the senior Trump administration officials insisted on Sunday that the exemption is temporary and part of the current plan to review the national security effects to import semiconductors, the chips that operate many consumer electronic devices.

They said that the new customs definitions will enter into force as soon as the review ends, which is what the Minister of Commerce, Howard Lottenic, indicated that it may take between one and two months.

“We take a look at the semiconductors and the entire supply chain in the upcoming national security definitions. What has been revealed is that we need to manufacture products in the United States, and that we will not be hostage to other countries, especially hostile commercial countries such as China, which will do their best to not respect the American people,” Trump wrote on Trump on “Truth Social”.
