"Federal National" Participates in the 14th session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in North Macedonia
Skopje, June 2, 2017 – His Excellency Muhammad Issa Al-Kashf, Member of the Federal National Council, participated in the work of the fourteenth plenary session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, which was held under the title “Tolerance and Peace: The Strategic Role of Parliaments in Formulating Legislation and Drawing Future Policies,” in the city of Skopje, the Republic of North Macedonia.
During his speech at the Federal National Council, His Excellency said that the title of the session clearly reflects the magnitude of the responsibility placed on parliamentary institutions in a world witnessing rapid transformations and intertwined challenges, whether in terms of security and stability, development, or technological and social changes, as parliaments have become an essential partner in building future visions, making public policies, and promoting a culture of dialogue, coexistence, and tolerance among peoples and cultures.
In this context, he stressed that consolidating the values of peace and tolerance requires respecting the sovereignty of states and adhering to the principles of international law, noting that the United Arab Emirates affirms its categorical rejection of Iran’s hostile practices and actions that are inconsistent with the principles of good neighbourliness, and constitute a clear violation of the rules of international law and the foundations of regional and international security and stability. Attacks targeting civilians and vital installations, and speeches of escalation and hatred, cannot in any way be consistent with the values of tolerance, peace and coexistence with which the world comes together today. To enhance and consolidate it.
His Excellency also stressed that achieving true peace cannot be achieved in light of violating the sovereignty of states, threatening the security of peoples, or using force, violence and terrorism as means to impose influence or achieve political gains, noting that parliaments bear a moral and legislative responsibility in confronting extremist and hate speeches, and supporting policies and legislation that promote a culture of dialogue, moderation, and respect for the sovereignty of states.
He stressed that the United Arab Emirates absolutely rejects any threats or allegations that affect its sovereignty, national security, or the independence of its decisions, and rejects the claims and allegations made by the Iranian side, and attempts to justify terrorist attacks.
His Excellency stressed the shared responsibility that requires working to develop legislation and policies that respond to the challenges of the future, protect common human values, and promote a culture of dialogue and moderation, stressing the UAE’s commitment to continuing its efforts in supporting all international initiatives and endeavors aimed at spreading peace, promoting the values of tolerance and human coexistence, and working with partners in various parliaments and international institutions to build a future of security, stability and prosperity for all.
