Gulf Statistics: 11.4% The contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the Gulf GDP

Muscat on April 14/ WAM/ The contribution of the travel and tourism sector in the Gulf GDP at the end of 2024 amounted to 11.4%, with a value of 247.1 billion US dollars, as the latest data issued by the statistical center of the Gulf Cooperation Council states indicated that the growth rate for the sector’s contribution to the Gulf GDP increased by about 31.9% compared to 2019.
The data indicates that the percentage of the travel and tourism sector in the GDP of the Cooperation Council in the global outcome of 2024 amounted to 2.2%, while the center indicated that it is expected that the contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the GDP is 13.3% in 2034 to reach 371.2 billion US dollars, while the average annual growth expected to contribute to the sector during the period from 2024 m to 2034 AD is reached More than 4.2%.
On the other hand, statistics indicate that the average annual growth rate in the number of tourists traveling between the countries of the Cooperation Council during the period from 2019 to 2023 AD reached 41.5% and represented 26.5% of the total international tourists coming to the GCC countries in 2023 AD.
