“Abu Dhabi Ports” performs the first process of supplying ships with liquefied natural gas in Khalifa Port

The Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the pioneering global composition of trade, industry and logistical services, has announced the completion of the first process of providing liquefied ships with liquefied natural gas “from ship to ship” in Khalifa Port, in a move that contributes to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading center in providing alternative fuel and sustainable marine solutions.

The service was performed in a simultaneous operation with the cargo handling, where the MSC Theis, an anchor in “Abu Dhabi Ports”, obtained liquefied natural gas fuel from the ship “Green Ziporn”, which specializes in supplying ships with liquefied natural gas, which is provided by “Mongasa”, specialized in marine fuel supplies.

The process reflects the capabilities of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, and its ability to provide vital and effective services, through its advanced infrastructure and global -level ports, with its success in facilitating access to low -carbon fuel.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

It is worth noting that liquefied natural gas contributes significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and also reduces sulfur oxide emissions, nitrogen oxide and suspended particles, compared to traditional marine fuel, which supports both environmental and industrial goals.

With this achievement, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the “Mongasa” company will continue to expand the scope of shipbuilding services with liquefied natural gas fuel in the group’s commercial ports in Abu Dhabi, including tourist ships in the port of Zayed, with a comprehensive fuel portfolio that includes low -sulfur fuel oil, marine gas oil, and high sulfur fuel oil.

This process was carried out according to international best practices and standards, including protocols and guidelines for providing ships with LNG, which were developed by the International Maritime Organization, the International Ports and Ports Federation, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the Gas Tankers Association and International Stations Works Association.
