المملكة: The League of Arab States honors the Kingdom’s efforts to raise awareness of meteorological and climate issues

Today, Wednesday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Meteorological Center, honored its distinguished efforts in raising Arab awareness of meteorological and climate issues, during the conclusion of the work of the 39th meeting of the Permanent Arab Meteorological Committee, which was hosted by the General Secretariat of the University in Cairo for two days.

Media awareness in the field of meteorology

This honor is the culmination of the Kingdom’s prominent role within the Meteorological Awareness and Information Committee, as it provided qualitative initiatives that included preparing the first Arabic bag for the terminology of the sign language, and organizing a specialized workshop entitled “The role of the media in enhancing awareness of weather and climate information”, with the wide participation of media professionals and journalists from various Arab countries.
The ritual “Arab Meteorological Day” and “The Day of the Observer and the Air Faculty” were also approved by a Saudi initiative.

Raise the readiness to deal with climate variables

The General Secretariat of the University praised the vital role of the Kingdom in supporting the work of the committee, and developing awareness and education tools in the field of meteorology, in a way that contributes to raising the readiness of Arab societies to deal with climate variables, and enhances the goals of joint Arab action.
This honor reflects the Arab appreciation of Saudi endeavors in promoting regional integration in the fields of weather and climate, and its active role in spreading categorical knowledge in comprehensive and influential methods that support the safety of societies and achieve sustainable development in the Arab world.
