Hamdan bin Zayed visits Sir Bani Yas Island and looks at development plans and heritage protection efforts with it

Abu Dhabi, April 16 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a representative of the ruler in the Al -Dhafra region, made an inspection visit to Sir Bani Yas Island, as part of His Highness’s keenness to follow up the progress of work and see the results of modern archaeological excavations and the legacy of heritage preservation in the island.
During the tour, His Highness listened to an explanation provided by His Excellency Saud Abdel Aziz Al -Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, through which he briefed on the efforts made to protect the cultural and historical heritage in the island and future plans to develop tourist facilities and upgrade the experience of visitors.
His Highness also listened to a detailed explanation of the recent excavations in two houses with a annihilation around the monastery, which revealed additional evidence of a strong presence of a local Christian community during the seventh and eighth centuries AD.
The tour included a visit to the Church and Deir Sir Bani Yas and the new visitor service center, which is an enumeration of a living witness to the wise and ambitious vision of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul.”

The new visitor services center is a qualitative addition and a cultural resource for tourists and local and international visitors, through which they get to know the history of the island and its cultural importance, and celebrates the island of Sir Bani Yas as an environmental cultural resort.
His Highness also visited the palm garden in the village of Dhahr, which dates back to the twentieth century AD, and our Emirati ancestors used it in the recent past.

Then His Highness continued the tour to the site of the archaeological well, which dates back to the end of the Islamic era, which was excavated and recently excavated under the direction of His Highness, as the results of this excavation showed that the well was in fact a two -meter water tank.
After that, His Highness visited a number of projects and listened to an explanation from Hamid Matar Al -Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of “ADNEC” group on the vision of ADNEC Group aimed at promoting the island of Sir Bani Yas and the development of tourism infrastructure, to meet the aspirations of visitors and enhance their experience, especially in light of the unique ingredients that the island has, which makes it a natural reserve and a unique environmental destination at the levels Regional and international.
During the visit, His Highness visited the Anantara Sir Bani Yas Hotel and is known for the development plans in addition to the ambitious vision of the project to develop the resort of Al -Yam and Al -Salad Resort. His Highness reviewed the General Plan for the Development of All Hotel Facilities and Tourist Resorts on the island.
His Highness praised the ambitious development visions witnessed by Sir Bani Yas Island and the efforts made to preserve its cultural and natural heritage, and to enhance its components a distinct tourist destination.
During the visit, His Highness was accompanied by His Excellency Nasser Muhammad Al -Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Al -Dhafra region, and a number of officials.
