Violence escalated in El Fasher in Sudan and reports of atrocities in Zamzam camp

Citvani Triple of the UN office office referred to reports from the partners on the ground about atrocities after it was reported that armed groups had seized the Zamzam camp for the displaced.
It was reported that civilians, including relief workers, are prevented from leaving and that the survivors have reported killing, sexual violence and burning homes. The spokeswoman said that the humanitarian operations in El Fasher face many obstacles due to the restrictions imposed on humanitarian access, the scarcity of fuel and the volatile security environment. In response to journalists ’questions, the spokeswoman welcomed the holding of the London Conference on Sudan and with all efforts to enhance international peace support, protect civilians and human access in Sudan. She also welcomed the great financing pledges announced during the conference.
