The American University of Sharjah and the University of the two brothers cooperate to enhance research in the Arabic language and develop moral artificial intelligence

The American University of Sharjah and the University of the Brotherhood in Ifrane in Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding on April 16 at the headquarters of the Moroccan Central Bank in the presence of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University in Sharjah, His Excellency Abdel Latif Al -Jawahiri, the governor of Bank Al -Maghrib and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Brotherhood University, in strengthening international cooperation between the two institutions.
The agreement provides for the establishment of a cooperative framework that includes Arabic and Islamic studies, methods of teaching Arabic, the fields of digital humanities and emerging technologies, with the aim of promoting cultural exchange, joint research, and academic partnerships that are based on the joint cultural heritage and ambitious future visions of the two institutions.
Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi said: “The Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Al -Awewayen reflects the depth of historical ties between the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco, and embodies our joint commitment to advance the march of higher education and preserve the cultural identity. The partnership between the American University in Sharjah and the University of the Alevin is based on a unified academic vision based on supporting Arab and Islamic studies, and encouraging scientific research in the areas of heritage and identity, Innovation in the production of knowledge is adopting.
For his part, His Excellency Abdul Latif Al -Jawahiri said: “The memorandum of understanding signed between the American University in Sharjah and the University of the Brotherhood is an additional episode in the framework of the historical fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco, as it aims to enable the two universities to develop scientific research and academic cooperation in several areas of common immediate interest.”
The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al -Tawfiq, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Morocco, and His Excellency Dr. Ezz El -Din Al -Midawi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in the Kingdom of Morocco, along with a number of senior officials of the two institutions.
“This partnership embodies our vision for higher education that goes beyond the geographical boundaries of building bridges through knowledge. We are expanding, in partnership with the Akhawen University, the prospects of our joint research, and we re -envision the future of Arab studies, and we contribute to the development of artificial intelligence. This agreement represents a prominent model of global academic cooperation that carries a message It is based on authenticity and focuses on the human and cognitive impact of the continent.
The areas of cooperation include research in intersections in teaching Arabic and English, with a focus on developing academic and cash skills among students. It also includes strengthening the teaching of the Arabic language for speakers of others, facilitating translation in various scientific disciplines, and supporting the education of free arts in the Arabic language. The two universities also seek to study the possibility of establishing a joint center concerned with teaching and digital humanities, to be a joint research platform in Arabic and Islamic literature, and in cultural dynamics and communication systems.
For his part, Dr. Amin Bensaid, President of Al -Akhwain University, said: “We are pleased to launch this partnership with our colleagues at the American University of Sharjah. It is an extension of the foundational vision that inspired the march of the Akhawen University since its inception thirty years ago, as it combines our established identity and openness to cultures. We intend, through this ambitious partnership, to launch qualitative initiatives to enhance joint scientific research and reformulate the future Arab studies in the era of artificial intelligence, the exchange of best practices in the fields of language and literature, and the consolidation of the traditions of education based on the common analytical thinking between us, to prepare global thinking graduates, able to link technological progress and cultural understanding in a world that is directed towards more interdependence.
The Memorandum of Understanding also provides new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of science and engineering, business administration, architecture, arts, design and archiving research. Among the most prominent objectives of the agreement is the establishment of an open source Arab database, which includes literary works, media content, and scientific publications that reflect the linguistic and cultural diversity of Morocco and the UAE. Through these resources, the two universities aim to provide the opportunity for researchers to provide more inclusive and cultural data to feed artificial intelligence systems, ensuring their ethical and responsible development.
The partnership opens the way for many joint activities, including the exchange of members of the teaching and administrative bodies, students’ transportation programs, the exchange of academic resources, the design of the academic courses jointly, and the implementation of integrated research projects. It also includes the possibilities of joint supervision of graduate students, organizing joint scientific conferences and seminars, and technical training programs. The institutions have expressed their desire to establish a joint fund to support initiatives that are consistent with their joint academic priorities.
This agreement comes within the framework of the commitment of the American University in Sharjah to expand its strategic partnership network with the most prominent academic institutions around the world to enhance its international presence, support multidisciplinary innovation, and contribute to building sustainable knowledge environments capable of addressing regional and global challenges.
