Abu Dhabi strengthens cooperation with Singapore and Japan in water resources management

Abu Dhabi, April 20 / WAM / A delegation from the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Hamid Al -Jarwan, Head of the Energy Department, visited Singapore and Japan, in the framework of strengthening strategic cooperation in the fields of water resources management and sustainable energy.
The goals of the visit focused on exchanging the latest experiences, knowledge, best experiences and practices on rainwater management and torrents using smart technologies and infrastructure adaptive to the climate, enhancing the sustainability of water resources, and exploring new innovative solutions in planning water resources and rationalizing consumption, in order to support Abu Dhabi’s strategic efforts in the field of water security, as well as building strategic partnerships with government agencies and leading companies in Singapore and Japan.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Hamid Al -Jarwan stressed the department’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and exchanging experiences in the field of water resources management and sustainable energy, noting that partnerships with government agencies, research institutions and leading companies in both Singapore and Japan provide a qualitative opportunity to benefit from the latest advanced technologies and innovative practices, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of resource use and achieving strategic goals in the field of sustainability.
He added that facing climatic challenges requires effective integrative efforts and firm international partnerships, and that the department seeks, from this standpoint, to cooperate with the leading countries in the field of sustainability; To develop effective solutions and able to meet and support the requirements of water and energy security for future generations, and it will continue to work closely and fruitful with local and international partners; To develop and implement strategies and policies that contribute to achieving the targets of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in the fields of sustainability and the efficiency of resource use.
The delegation of the department, in Singapore, reviewed the advanced solutions in the management of rainwater and the confrontation of floods, in addition to the smart strategies for planning water resources, and holding several meetings with senior officials there, including Dr. Amy Kour, the first minister assisting in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Singapore Environment, to discuss ways of cooperation in the areas of sustainability and water management, officials of the Public Utilities Authority “Pub” and the company “Spaceage Labs” to discuss artificial intelligence techniques in water solutions, as well as visit leading projects such as the Marina Dam and the “Bishan-Angie Mo Qio” garden, which is a global model for climate infrastructure.
In the energy sector, the delegation discussed cooperation opportunities in the fields of renewable energy with Tawas Power, and with the Energy Market Authority “EMA”, and visited the Water Research Center at the National University of Singapore “NUS” to explore the prospects for research and development in water resources management.
During his visit to Japan, the Energy Department delegation held high -level meetings and made field visits to the Japanese Water Agency “JWA”, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism “MLIT”, and specialized companies such as “WOTA” and “Kajima”, during which cooperation opportunities were discussed in the fields of water resources management, the use of artificial intelligence technologies, and the development of innovative solutions to face challenges of change Climate.
The visit also included a number of huge strategic projects, including the external drainage channel for the Greater Tokyo region, and the extensive underground complex known as the “underground cathedral”, to see the latest Japanese technologies in flooding water management.
