499.6 billion dollars in China’s electronic retail sales during the first quarter

BEIJING, on April 22/ WAM/ The country’s e -commerce sector recorded steady growth during the first quarter of this year, driven by China’s policies to stimulate consumption, including its broad program to replace old consumer goods with a new one, according to what the Chinese Ministry of Trade announced yesterday “Monday”.

The People’s Daily Online newspaper reported that official figures showed that the value of online retail sales reached 3.6 trillion yuan “about 499.6 billion US dollars” during the first quarter of this year, while the value of sales of material commodities over the Internet increased by 5.7%.

The Ministry pointed out that there is also an increase of 7.4% in the value of digital commodity sales over the Internet during the same period.
