Emirates Media Council participates in "Abu Dhabi Book Fair"

Abu Dhabi, April 24/ WAM/ The Emirates Media Council will participate in the 34th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center during the period from April 26 to May 5, 2025, within the framework of the Council’s efforts to explore the prospects for joint cooperation with local and international, and attract major global publishing houses to benefit from the competitive media environment and the advanced infrastructure provided by the UAE.
Through this participation, the Council seeks to introduce local and international publishers to the updates that have occurred on the system of media legislation and the procedures for the publishing industry, which aims to build a stimulating and sustainable environment that supports publishing, and takes into account the requirements of intellectual property, and keeps pace with the developments of digital publishing and new models for content distribution.
His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al -Shehhi, Secretary -General of the Emirates Media Council, stressed that the council’s participation in this most prominent cultural event in the region reflects its commitment to strengthening the UAE’s position as a regional center for the publishing industry.
He said that the publishing sector in the UAE is witnessing qualitative developments, and the Council is keen, through its participation, to provide the opportunity for publishers and creators to see the new system of the publishing industry, which provides proactive, proactive services that facilitate operations, and ensure compliance with local and international standards.
His Excellency added that the Council is working to establish the UAE as a global media center, and it believes that publishing is not only a cultural industry, but is an economic tributary and a civilized interface that expresses our values and opens new horizons for our youth, writers and creators.
During the exhibition period, the Council organizes a series of meetings with local, regional and international publishers, with the aim of discussing the prospects for cooperation and exploring joint investment opportunities, and discussing international best practices in the publishing industry.
The Council also devotes an area within its suite to review the national initiatives related to publishing, including the “Writers from the Emirates” initiative, which the Council launched in partnership with “ELF” for publication in order to support Emirati writers and link them to international publishing role.
The initiative contributed to the delivery of a number of Emirati authors into prominent international exhibitions, translating their business and distributing them in new markets, which enhances the cultural and intellectual presence of the state at the global level.
The Emirates Media Council called on visitors to the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair to visit the Council’s pavilion to learn about the latest media initiatives launched, and ways to enhance cooperation in the cultural and media field in the UAE.
