Two members of the US Congress riding a private plane for $ 15,000 per hour

A member of the left -wing Congress in New York, Alexandria Cortez, was seen leaving a private plane with her political struggle, Senator Bernie Sanders, after they moved between the campaign stations dedicated to condemnation of the wealthy.
A video clip from the “Fox News” channel, Cortez and Sanders, shows that they are coming from the “Pombardier Challenger 604” plane, despite their strong criticism of private flight.
Bombardier Challenger 604 is a luxury aircraft, the cost of manufacturing between five and seven million dollars, while the cost of renting it is $ 15,000 per hour.
The duo Cortez and Sanders took the luxury plane to attend a series of Sanders’ gatherings that carried the slogan “Confronting the oligarchy”, which aims to “conduct serious discussions throughout America”, and to confront “elite and the interests of companies with influence and the humiliating power in this country,” according to the official website of the campaign.
The site requests donations to help finance the tour, which says in a ridiculous statement, it requires “modest resources” to cover travel expenses. The site also attacks the wealthy, revealing that “the financing of the campaign by Bernie Sanders’s friends (not billionaires).”
Inequality
Congress members visited several sites, including Tosson in Arizona, Los Angeles, Lake City, and Namba in the state of Idahu and Bicherfield in California, and others, to talk about “the evils of obscene wealth and income equality”, in front of encouraging crowds.
“As a community, we have to choose and vote for Democrats and elected officials who know how to defend the working class,” Curtis said in one of the electoral communities.
The tour must go well, as traveling luxury on a private plane is in fact a qualitative shift compared to its previous travels. Last month, Cortez was seen traveling in the first place on a flight of “Gate Blu”, to attend the “fighting oligarchy” event from John Kennedy Airport in Queens to Las Vegas, which criticists described as ridiculous as an attempt by a left -wing member of the Congress to “fight inequality with boldness.”
The price of the first -class seat on the Jet Blue plane on the same track is more than $ 1100.
Criticism
Sanders had previously been criticized for his passion for traveling with private planes, leaving at least one throughout the trial of President Donald Trump in 2020.
The Sanders campaign has also spent more than $ 221,000 on traveling in private aircraft in the first quarter of 2025 alone, according to the records of the Federal Electoral Committee.
Critics refer to the duplication of Sanders and Cortez, both of which are a supporter of the environment, and they know well the great environmental impact of traveling with private planes.
According to the International Energy Agency, an hour of carbon emissions in the atmosphere of a private plane is far outweighed by an ordinary person in a full year.
The Pombardier Challenger plane, which is used by the two congressional members who declare themselves with climate defenders, consumes 365 gallons of fuel every 1.32 hours, according to the magazine “Knighting Kimkinton”, which makes their air flights much higher than the average.
The magazine pointed out that those who travel regularly on private planes produce approximately 500 times of carbon annually, compared to the average person globally. On the New York Post
Stark contrast
Alexandria Cortez has always emerged as a leading figure in the Climate Justice Movement, previously condemned the use of unambiguous phrases. In 2023, she resorted to social media to criticize corporate executives, asking: «How many private planes needed by these executives? It is an irreplaceable need … it is unacceptable. ”
But critics say that a member of Congress has now repeated the same behavior that she had previously despised. Special aircraft emissions from carbon dioxide are estimated for each passenger at between 10 and 20 times compared to commercial flights, according to European Union Transport and Environment data.
On one special trip of five hours, the Bombardier Challenger plane can produce more than 25 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to what is emitting from the average American citizen in a whole year.
This blatant contradiction feeds accusations of hypocrisy from both political aspects.
The Republican National Committee in the Congress rushed to describe Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders as “the socialist socialists”, sarcastically from their calls to curb the greed of companies while flying with a luxury meeting hall in the air.
. Sanders had previously been criticized for his passion for traveling in private planes, as he rented a plane throughout the Trump trial period.
