The UAE participates in Venice Biennial for Architecture 2025

Abu Dhabi, April 30 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates participates in the nineteenth session of the International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennial 2025, whose activities will start from May 10 to November 23, where the state wing of the state will present an innovative exhibition, entitled “On Calm Fire”, which deals with deep architectural and cultural topics, from the evaluation of the architect and assistant professor at Zayed University, the participating institution and director of research in Holsum studies, Ezza Abu Alam.
In conjunction with the “Year of Society” in the United Arab Emirates, to enhance the values of solidarity, cooperation and societal responsibility, its expected participation in the Venice Biennial of Architecture is gaining an additional dimension of importance, where the exhibition, the national wing highlights innovative architectural solutions for food and environmental challenges, but also embodies the state’s commitment to enhancing societal awareness of the importance of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
This participation comes to emphasize the pivotal role of architecture in community service and achieving sustainable development, and the national pavilion of the UAE will receive visitors in its permanent area in the Arsenal – Sally Darmi in Venice, from May 10 to November 23, and the opening of the exhibition will be organized on May 8 and 9.
Laila bin Brik, director of the national pavilion of the UAE, said: With the support of the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture, it embodies the exhibition “on a quiet fire” a spectrum of the goals of “the year of society” on the international scene in the Biennial of the Venice, by launching the capabilities and capabilities of individuals and society, and talent care, and encouraging innovation in various fields in a way that achieves inclusive growth and a sustainable positive impact.
She added: The UAE is committed to playing an active and influential role within the activities of the Venice Biennial, this ancient international event that brings together the elite thinkers and creators in the field of architecture, and we seek through the exhibition to present a contemporary vision that highlights unique aspects of the architectural and cultural scene in the UAE and the creativity of its community, and we look forward to cooperation with the aim of enriching the global dialogue on the future of architecture and food production.
She continued: We look forward to the exhibition, to the concerted architectural experiences with environmental awareness of the creation of agricultural houses that are not only producing food, but completely consistent with the surrounding nature. This cooperation can be resulted in innovative designs that use sustainable materials, depend on renewable energy sources, and integrate modern technologies to rationalize water consumption and agricultural waste management efficiently. In addition, these agricultural houses can become educational models and community centers that enhance awareness of the importance of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
The participation of the United Arab Emirates in the Biennial of Venice of Architecture is an important platform for enhancing cultural and architectural dialogue at the international level, and to present the distinguished contributions of the state in this vital field. The national pavilion of the United Arab Emirates was established by the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, and it has a permanent wing in the Venice Biennial.
