Dubai Airports: The Smart Corridor is 10 times faster than the current gates

Dubai, April 30 / WAM / Majid Al -Joker, CEO of Operations at Dubai Airports, revealed that the speed of travel procedures through the “smart corridor” in the Travelers’ Building 3 exceeded the speed of the current smart gates, as it allows travelers to cross passport points without the need to stop or highlight travel documents. He assured the Emirates News Agency “WAM” on the sidelines of the Arab Travel Market Exhibition, that this technology, which began to work experimentally three months ago in the Travelers ’3 -class travelers and businessmen, has achieved in the last days a success rate of approximately 100%, and is currently being expanded to include the tourist class passengers, to be circulated later on the various airport buildings, without any revealing the date of the official launch or the date of generalization of the service.

He explained that the smart corridor does not only represent a technological leap, but it comes within an integrated system that provides a smooth travel experience supervised by between 20 and 23 thousand employees per shift, working around the clock to meet the needs of millions of travelers.

He said: “We adopt the culture of the guest first, and we have work teams working in the spirit of one team to provide an exceptional travel experience for travelers.”

With regard to the communication of Dubai International Airport, the continuation of its position as the most crowded airports in the world at the level of international flights for the eleventh year in a row, that his dealings with more than 23 million passengers during the first quarter of 2025 put it on a path exceeding the 95.6 million passenger barrier by the end of the year, pointing out that expectations are always subject to re -evaluation and review.

This growth was attributed to the continuous tourist momentum in the emirate, and the increase in movement during peak seasons such as the spring holiday, Eid al -Fitr and New Year, in addition to the remarkable recovery on flights coming from new destinations that showed prominent growth, such as the Czech Republic, by 30%, Vietnam 28%, Spain 20%, and the monthly movement rate at the airport reached about 7.8 million passengers, while the number of travelers in January alone exceeded 8.5 million.

He pointed out that the percentage of direct travelers reached 57% compared to 43% for transit trips, in an indication of the rise of Dubai’s gravity as a final destination, while the number of trips reached 111 thousand trips during the first three months of the year, an increase of 1.9% over the same period from 2024, and the number of bags circulating exceeds 21 million bags.

The Joker also dealt with the developments of the Al Maktoum International Airport project, indicating that it will be five times greater than the current Dubai Airport, with the adoption of an operating philosophy based on the smart experience, where the “smart corridor” is expected to play a pivotal role in its design.

In a related context, he highlighted the efforts of Dubai airports in supporting the owners of determination, especially those with autism spectrum, as more than 45,000 employees from the airport community were trained to deal with their needs and provide a facilitated travel environment, which contributed to Dubai to obtain the global official classification as the first tourist destination approved for autism in the eastern half of the globe.
