"Arabic" Memory of civilizations in "Abu Dhabi International Book"

Abu Dhabi on May 1 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair has strengthened the position of the Arabic language as a leading platform for the production of knowledge and the promotion of cultural exchange, by highlighting qualitative initiatives that highlight its role in preserving the memory of civilizations and appreciating cultural and intellectual creativity.

The “Kalima” project of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is one of the most prominent initiatives that contributed to enhancing the translation movement in the Arab world, and supported the attendance and impact of the Arabic language in the global cultural scene.

Since its launch, the “Word” project has succeeded in translating more than 1300 titles of 24 languages, in more than 10 cognitive categories, in cooperation with more than 800 translators and elite publishing houses.

His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, Director of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, confirmed in a statement to Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the “Kalima” project embodies the role of translation as a basic pillar of cultural and intellectual exchange between civilizations, noting the center’s strategy in supporting translation, documenting cultural experiences, and enhancing the presence of Arab and international authors.

He pointed to the center’s keenness to support the global publishing movement and celebrate creators from all over the world, stressing that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair succeeded throughout its career in establishing its position as a leading global knowledge and cultural platform.

The “Kalima” project was launched in 2007 with the aim of reviving the translation movement in the Arab world, and supporting the active cultural movement witnessed by Abu Dhabi, in a way that contributes to strengthening its position on the map of the regional and international cultural scene, in order to establish an Arab scientific and cultural renaissance that includes various branches of human knowledge.

The selection and translation are carried out in the “Word” project at the hands of professional experts, in order to ensure the quality of the Arabic language used to transfer the product of the world’s cultures, and benefit from its aesthetics and knowledge.

The project was also keen to translate a group of literary works of international writers, and several books that highlight the biography of a number of the Nobel Prize winners and their achievements, in addition to other works through which the center was keen to enrich the Arab library and inform the reader of these cognitive treasures.

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center will launch during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, a distinguished group of its most important and latest versions, which include the product of a number of its leading projects, foremost of which are “Kalima”, “versions” and “research grants program”.

Among the books of the “Kalima” project, which was presented at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair: “A specific idea of ​​France: Charles de Gaulle’s biography”, “The boy coming from Baghdad”, “Frane’s Image”, “Discovery Tours”, “Global Language: Translation and Hegemony”, and “Green Emerging Company”.

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center also honored during the exhibition, six ancient Arab publishing houses, which spent a total of 520 years in the service of the publishing industry, within the first phase of the “Honoring Pioneers Pioneers in the Arab World” initiative.

The center organizes more than 2000 cultural events within the agenda of its participation in the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, including 1,700 creative activities in the framework of the first stage of the community campaign to support the recently launched sustainable reading.

The events cover 14 fields, and include reading clubs, dialogue sessions, creative writing workshops, intellectual lectures, artistic seminars, recreational educational programs, specialized courses, poetry readings, stories, radio programs, cultural competitions, artificial intelligence technologies, and the launch of new books.

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair succeeded in consolidating its position as a distinctive model for the exhibitions of the Arabic book, and it has been leading a transformation march that included not only the titles offered to books, but also the intellectual, cultural and recreational content, to reformulate the concept of Arab book exhibitions towards more proximity to society, to become one of the most prominent tools of development.
