“Sharjah Agriculture” launches the organic farm support program

According to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, in expanding the Sharjah system for sustainable organic food security, and in the context of its endeavor to enhance sustainable agricultural development, the head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al -Tunaiji, inaugurated at the Customer Services Center, the Organic Farmers Support Program in the Emirate of Sharjah; In order to provide safe and sustainable solutions to farm owners, to contribute to enhancing organic food security, according to the highest international standards.

The program, which is one of the most important potentials for sustainable agricultural development in Sharjah, aims to improve the organic food security system, support organic farms, and those who wish farm owners to transform into organic agriculture in the emirate, and support is to provide organic agricultural production requirements and comprehensive guidelines for organic agriculture, which contributes to the optimal exploitation of the available natural resources, in addition to the organic seeds that are appropriate to conditions Climate and environmental for the UAE at the beginning of the agricultural season, and helping farm owners to provide outlets to sell their products.

Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al -Tunaiji affirmed that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was keen to provide support for everything that contributes to the sustainability of the safe and organic agricultural sector, and achieves diversity and sustainability of food, preserves natural resources, enhances the health of society, and reflects positively on the environment and the quality of life.

He added: Organic agriculture represents a system that encourages food production in an environmental, social and economic framework, to reduce the use of chemical inputs; It depends on the use of the agricultural cycle and organic fertilizers, to improve the properties of soil, and despite the challenges facing agriculture, Sharjah works to face these challenges with modern technologies, providing support to farmers, and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, to contribute to achieving the goals of its strategy in organic agriculture, and enhancing their sustainability to return to nature.

The launch of the program included a training workshop on organic agriculture programs and its importance in promoting food sustainability, and directing farmers on the necessity of adopting sustainable organic agriculture.
